Information Corner on COVID-19 and breast cancer

Aim

The COVID-19 Information Corner gathers in a single space selected resources that relate to the safe management of breast cancer screening and care during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as guidelines, technical documents or protocols.

The objective of this space is to offer support to healthcare professionals and other stakeholders in the planning, commissioning and organising of breast cancer services in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Approach

The webpages of the developers included in the ECIBC's catalogue of international guidelines were consulted to identify resources that relate to breast cancer care, including early diagnosis, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The resources presented in the COVID-19 Information Corner are selected based on the below inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Inclusion criteria

Webpages/dedicated web spaces that provide resources:

  • published or endorsed by the same developers as the guidelines already included in ECIBC's catalogue of international guidelines;
  • offering clinical and/or technical guidance for screening and care of breast cancer in addition to the published guidelines, specific for COVID-19 and any other pandemic settings;
  • including at least one breast cancer process of care: prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up, support to long-term survivors, palliative and end of life care;
  • prepared for women attending breast cancer screening and patients giving details related to the breast cancer care process during the COVID-19 or other pandemics;
  • explaining organisational measures for breast cancer services during the COVID-19 or other pandemics.
Exclusion criteria

Webpages/dedicated web spaces that provide resources:

  • including only general statements about breast cancer care during a pandemic without offering proper guidance for at least one of the processes of care (prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up, support to long-term survivors, palliative and end of life care)
  • offering only guidance regarding the reimbursement process.
